Make thai iced tea by mixing milks and tea base
Recipe
Fill a cup with ice and fill your cup with the tea base previously made. The tea base can be used hot, or allowed to cool first to avoid melting the ice quickly and in turn diluting the tea.
Add 2 tbsp of evaporated milk or your dairy/non-dairy milk of choice to the tea mixture.
Depending on your sweetness preferences add 1 tbsp of sweetened condensed milk (more if you like sweet drinks, less if you like less sweet) and stir until it is fully dissolved. At this point the tea should have a bright orange color.
Taste and add condensed milk if it’s not at your desired sweetness level.
Why the Recipe Works
As a general rule Thai food is spicy - Thai iced tea is the perfect compliment to soothe the spice. Thai tea is heavily flavored with various warming spices and made from black tea leaves. The milk (in the forms of sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk) adds a comforting creaminess to the drink that also helps reduce the effects of the capsaicin in peppers prevalent in Thai food.
