Recipe
Make crepes according to the Basic Crepe Recipe.
Peel a banana but only remove 1/4 of the peel. Using a butter knife cut the banana into thin slices while still in the peel. This method saves a lot of cleaning and potential smearing and sticking of bananas on your cutting board when cutting it.
Assemble crepes by spreading a thin layer of Nutella around the entire crepe. Place a thin layer of banana slices on the middle 3rd of the crepe to allow for folding. This crepe is best served warm so the Nutella can slowly melt while nestled between the crepe.
Optional: Serve with a dusting of powdered sugar.
Why the Recipe Works
Nutella and banana is a classic combination. From a texture standpoint, the smoothness of Nutella is a great compliment to the natural creaminess of banana. Additionally, the mild banana taste comes through the more rich flavors of hazelnut and chocolate of Nutella and provides a deeper flavor that a spoonful of Nutella can’t provide on its own.
